Butler, Ruby Joyner

Ruby Joyner Butler, 86, of Chester, Va., passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005, after a brief illness. She was born in Windsor, North Carolina and had been a resident of this area for over sixty years. Mrs. Butler was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church of Hopewell for 35 years, where she participated in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening and exhibiting hand-crafted dolls and bunnies. Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her parents, Atha and Marcus Joyner, her husband of 58 years, Elwood Butler and siblings, Lorraine, Wilson, Bonnie and David. She is survived by her sons, Robert and wife, Gwen of Lizella, Ga., William and his wife, Delores of Chesterfield, Va. and Larry of Chester, Va., daughters, Linda Tuohey and husband, Jim of Raleigh, NC., and Jennie Wells and husband Dwaine of Hopewell, grandchildren, Sherryl Butler and Lynn Young of Athens, Ga., Debbie, Ronny and Blake Butler of Lizella, Ga., Robby Butler of Parumph, NV., Tony Soddu (Candace) of Spartanburg, SC., Lisa Stinnett (Chris) of Durham, NC., Chris Wells (Angella Rio) of San Diego, Ca., Pret Wells (Bridgett) of Kodiak, AK., great-grandchildren, Charlie Stinnett of Durham, NC., and Pres Butler of Parumph, NV., a sister, Dorothy Butler of Dewitt, Va. Brother, Mark Joyner(Ruth) of Norfolk, Va., brother-in-law, Jack Butler (Betty) and sister-in-law, Avalon Marmol all of Hopewell, Va. and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 7-8:30 PM. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with interment in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, c/o First Christian Church, 203 N.11th Ave., Hopewell, Va. 23860. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com.
