Parrish, Helen T.

Helen Thomasson Parrish, 88, of Petersburg, widow of Garland Edward Parrish, passed away Monday, February 07, 2005. Born at Church Road, VA, she was the daughter of the late Murry Eugene and Annie Smith Thomasson. She was a long time member of Elm Street Baptist Church and a retired employee of the communications department at Southside Regional Medical Center. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her son, John Upton Parrish. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Doris Poore Parrish of Richmond; grandchildren, Donald Keith Parrish and wife, Barbara, Garland E. “Gary” Parrish, and Leslie Ann Pochkar and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Logan Troy Parrish and Jonathon C. Parrish; a sister-in-law, Lena Tew Thomasson of Hopewell; and numerous nieces and nephews including Shirley Ashley and Gloria Miller and husband, Dean all of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Harvey Skinner, Pastor of Elm Street Baptist Church and the Rev. Kathy Sherada, Outreach Minister at First Baptist Church, Petersburg, officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 840 W.
