MacLaughlin, Jr., Victor J.

Victor James MacLaughlin, Jr., 61, of Colonial Heights, died, Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mr. MacLaughlin served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and was a retired Manger for Mattress Warehouse. Mr. MacLaughlin was a member of the Hopewell Jaycees, the SouthsideVirginia Realtors,Virginia State Defense Force, Hopewell Rotary and a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Victor James and Merle Dugan MacLaughlin, Sr., and a sister, Joan Michael Harris. Surviving are his wife, Judith Moon MacLaughlin of Midlothian, a daughter, Jennifer M. MacLaughlin and husband F. Gibbins Sloan III of Chester, two sons, Edwin J. MacLaughlin and Victor J. MacLaughlin both of Hermosa Beach, California, two grandchildren, Abigail Rivers Sloan and Tucker Gibbons Sloan both of Chester, a brother, Matthew Charles MacLaughlin of Dinwiddie Co., Sisters, Loretta M. Richardson of San Antonio,Texas, Regina M. Pugh of Newport News, Va., Mother John O.C.D. of Schenectady, New York. The family will receive friends Friday, January 21 from 7-8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2005 in St. John’s Catholic Church, Squirrel Level Rd. Dinwiddie, with Father John Martinez officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, Richmond.

I had known Jim and his wonderful family for almost 30 years. I'll always remember the way he was there for me as well as for my family in good times and bad. Now, he's in heaven with my beloved family no doubt having a great time. Rest in peace, Jim.
