Slaughter, Leroy M.

Leroy Mason Slaughter, 77, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Monday, November 1, 2004. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Preston B. and Ellen Slaughter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco, and a member of Blandford United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Helen Slaughter; his daughters, Diane Slayton of Chester, Lynn Thomas of Newport News, and Darlene Dameron of Chesterfield; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Evelyn Tucker of Charleston, W.VA; half brothers, Charles Eugene Jones of Sutherland, William Jones and Allen Jones of Dinwiddie; and a half sister, Jeanette Aldridge of Dinwiddie. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T.
