Earl Armor Smith, Jr., 79, formerly of Matoaca, died Friday, October 08, 2004 at his residence in Beaufont Towers, Richmond. He was a WW II pilot in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant. He retired as manager of the sales department with Columbia Gas Co. He was a member for many years at Westhampton United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Stutzman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margery A. Smith; four children, Barbara Stutzman (Dave), David Smith, Steven Smith (Christine) and Linda Howell (Steve); six grandchildren, Paul, B. J., Harper, Alexandra, Harrison and Charlotte; and one great-grandson, Kevin. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service until 8 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date in the Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery, Amelia.
